House of Dawn Recovery Counseling Process

We believe that by knowing Jesus Christ and following His way, people can know the truth, and the truth can help them be released from sin and the depths of addiction to receive true freedom.

Operation Dawn's gospel recovery approach is built on three main concepts:

1. Confession & Cleansing
2. Repentance
3. Know Christ, follow His way, be filled with truth, and ultimately break free from the bondage of sin and addiction and be released from the depths of addiction.

Confession has two parts: to God and to people. Confessing to God means admitting all sins before Him, while clearing issues with people reconciles the wrongs done during addiction. This is vital for spiritual growth, allowing the blood of Jesus to cleanse all sins.

Repentance means a "change of mind," not just self-reform. Since the Fall, human thoughts and actions have turned away from God. Real repentance is not merely turning from wrong to right, but turning away from sin to return to God. By His grace, we turn to God, learn to die and rise with Christ, and allow Him to fill our lives.

Our thoughts shape our actions. Since the Fall, human minds and behaviors have naturally turned away from God. Therefore, repentance is necessary to transform our minds, which in turn transforms our actions.

To pursue confession, repentance, and being filled by the Holy Spirit, the practical formation process is:

Isolation

Our residential discipleship program requires residents to live at House of Dawn for twelve months. Through a separated and mutually supportive community life, residents rebuild their outlook on life and learn to follow biblical teaching as their guide for daily living.

Separation means creating an environment that cuts off the old network and replaces previous bad habits with what is later built and learned. As the saying goes, one who stays near vermilion becomes red. New understanding and behavior are learned through imitation and example within the peer community, so House of Dawn must provide good models for those in recovery to learn healthy behavior.

Life Renewal (Renewal)

Through the daily life guidelines at House of Dawn, residents learn through general courses, spiritual courses, and the example and teaching of ministry staff and successful senior residents, rebuilding character, ethics, self-discipline, and human dignity.

General activities—including sports, work, and group dynamics—foster mutual support and brotherhood without competition. Spiritual courses focus on biblical teachings, counseling, and communication skills.

Reformation: Halfway House

We help them rebuild positive support networks, such as family, friends, employment, school, and church. Through these relationships, they enter a stage of rebuilding and re-education that helps them become more independent. This is the service of the halfway house.
